Finally Choosing Me
Finally Choosing Me Published by Deena · The Quiet Work At the end of our lives, we won’t be concerned with how much of something we had. What will matter most is how we spent our time — and what we gave our energy to.I’ll admit it: since having my children, I’ve had the hardest time truly caring for myself. Prioritizing me. And the resentment I quietly built up eventually manifested as anxiety and depression.I was so focused on making sure my kids were emotionally considered, well fed, and dressed that I had forgotten about myself entirely. I did such a good job living on autopilot — and making it look good — that no one thought to ask how I was really doing. This isn’t a “me playing the victim” party. Because the truth is, I hadn’t even asked myself that question. And there was something else I’d neglected: my prayer life. My study life. My relationship with the Lord. The very things that once held me together had quietly slipped away while I held everyone else together. But I’m no longer concerned with how I’m viewed based on my past, my education, or my choices. We all have a choice to make. And from this day forward — I choose me.This life is temporary, and I refuse to settle for the bare minimum. I refuse to live in mediocrity, running on empty, calling it love.Play full out, like your life depends on it.Because it does. This is the quiet work. — Deena Read more
